Mō Mātou – About Us
Te Puna Reo o Ngā Kākano is a Māori language immersion early childhood education centre dedicated to nurturing the language, culture, and wellbeing of our tamariki.
Ko Wai Mātou?
Who Are We?
Te Puna Reo o Ngā Kākano is a Māori immersion early childhood education centre where our tamariki are immersed in te reo Māori from the very beginning of their learning journey.
Our name reflects our purpose — Te Puna Reo means "the spring of language," and Ngā Kākano means "the seeds." Together, we plant and nurture the seeds of language and culture that will flourish throughout our tamariki's lives.
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up connected to their language, their culture, and their identity as Māori.

Our Approach
Our kaiako (teachers) are passionate advocates for te reo Māori and tikanga Māori. All learning at our centre is delivered entirely in te reo Māori, creating a rich and immersive environment for our tamariki.
We follow the Te Whāriki early childhood curriculum framework, weaving together the principles of empowerment, holistic development, family and community, and relationships throughout everything we do.
Our programme celebrates and honours Māori culture, incorporating karakia, waiata, kōrero, and tikanga as natural and joyful parts of every day.
